On a 9900 m² piece of land in Thy National Park, a solitary cottage appears in the horizon of an untamed coastal landscape. Without any neighbours in sight in the tiny town of Vangså, it secluded endless plains of Leymus seem to have no beginning or end. From a distance, the building resembles a classic fisherman’s cottage but when approaching, guests are met by a 185 m² geometric forms and repeating silhouettes revealing a stunning structure that blends seamlessly into the landscape and is striking in its simplicity.

Along this stretch of coastline is a surfer’s paradise dubbed ‘Cold Hawaii’, where local architect studio Hahn Lavsen has transformed one of these historic early 1900 cottages into a modern guesthouse.

A well-appointed Vipp V3 kitchen occupies the heart of the living area and unfolds in a large island of 6 units accompanied by a backdrop of customized tall cabinets in oak.

The kitchen is paired with a seating area taking advantage of the views with sofas in the same rich textile upholstery as the Vipp Swivel chairs in the dining area. In matching complementary colour nuances, a Vipp pouf and sofa cushions are made in identical upholstery, a curled wool textile.

A refreshingly modern and intimately warm palette of sandy tones and textures inspired by the surrounding beaches, dunes, and cliffs. A large seating area is taking advantage of the views with sofas in the same rich textile upholstery as the Vipp Swivel chairs in the dining area.

Feast of the senses

The ‘Lineated Luminary’ wall carpet by local artist Rasmus Søndergaard Johanssen is integrated on both sides of a custom oak wardrobe set in the high-ceilinged entrance hall. Doubling as room divider, the wardrobe screens off the dining area consisting of a large Vipp Cabin table paired with a new variant of the Swivel chair in a dark sand textile upholstery.

At the end of the white-washed corridor a ceramic piece by the Parisian artist Bénédicte Vallet depicts a shark’s jaw wide open.

In the ground floor bathroom, a custom-made lightly woven cotton by local textile designer Benthe Boesen acts as a curtain that creates privacy while letting in the sunlight. The largest of the Vipp bath modules, a horizontally placed mirror, and bathroom accessories is all kept in white to enhance the lightness of the room.

The guesthouse comprises three double bedrooms, two of which include an integrated spe­cial-made bunk bed for extra sleeping space. Curtains, bedspreads, and cushions are kept in subtle textiles and colourways, to create a sense on serenity, allowing the surrounding natural landscape take centre stage.

We recommend taking bus number 68 from the Central Station to Kigkurren at Islands Brygge, followed by a 1 minute walk. It is also possible to rent a car at Copenhagen Airport, which is a15-minute drive or take the metro to Islands Brygge.

There is 3-hours free parking around the corner from Pencil Factory.

Terms and Conditions

A self-service concept

Vipp guesthouses are a self-service concept offering experiences and essentials. Our rooms are spread out at various locations, so we do not have a reception or a concierge. You won't find a 24-hour lobby, a gym, daily housekeeping, or fitness facilities. Instead, we offer tailored and curated design destinations out of the ordinary, filled with Vipp's take on design. A part of the experience of our destinations is to engage with the interior of our rooms. Every room is equipped with a kitchen just waiting to be used, so when you have done your grocery shopping, start cooking and enjoy.

Should you have questions or need assistance, a member of the Vipp team will be standby during your stay to assist you.

 

Reservations and cancellations

All bookings at the Vipp guesthouses are non-refundable. If you cannot make it for your booked reservation, we do offer the option of changing the date of your stay according to availability. A second cancellation cannot be refunded or rescheduled.

 

Methods of payment

Full pre-payment by credit card or bank transfer at the time of reservation. A valid credit card is required to confirm your booking.

 

Cancellation policy

All pre-paid bookings are non-refundable but it allows the guest to change the date of the booking according to availability. A second cancellation cannot be changed for new dates or refunded.

 

Vacating rooms

Rooms should be vacated in the same state and condition as they were at the time of check-in. Vipp obtains the right to demand a refund of any damaged or otherwise compromised interior.

Late check-out can be requested upon reservation and is subject to a late check-out fee of EUR 75,00. Vipp reserves the right to decline requests for late checkout.

 

Children

All rooms in the Vipp hotel are for adults over the age of 16 only, no children.

 

Pets

No pets allowed.

 

Smoking

Vipp guesthouses are smoke-free property (including e-cigarettes), and all guest rooms and public areas are designated as such. A smoking fee of 2000 euro per day will be assessed if evidence of smoking is found in your room or on the premises.
