Kitchen of the castle

Nantes, France

On the bank of the Erdre river in western France lies a château from the 18th century. It has been restored to its former glory by Peter and Trude; a couple with a talent for antiques and a predilection for functional objects.

Meet the family

Peter and Trude are originally from the Netherlands. After spending almost a decade in Provence they decided to go North. They settled in a 17th century château, where they opted for an industrial-looking kitchen to contrast the soft interior.

French cuisine

Peter and Trude appreciate how the steel kitchen interacts with the old stone floor. Another favourite aspect of the design is the customised rubber details in the kitchen; especially the silicone drawer inserts for cutlery.
